About Wendi Miyashiro
Wendi Miyashiro is a California State Board licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. She is also a Diplomat of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology of the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Wendi obtained her Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, CA and has extensive training in sports acupuncture and herbal medicine. She is also fluent in Spanish and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from the University of California, Riverside.
My first experience with acupuncture was as a patient myself. I suffered from severe neck/shoulder muscle tension and pain that many sessions of massage could not alleviate. I visited my MD, and since all tests were negative, and not wanting to take medication, I sought alternative treatments. I saw an acupuncturist and received 100% improvement after my first visit. I could not believe it! Fascinated with how this ancient medicine worked and the philosophy behind it, I was grateful to have found a medical system that made sense and provided me with answers.
From there my journey began. I immersed myself in Chinese medical school, full time for four years. I graduated and have since pursued my practice on land and at sea. As the onboard acupuncturist for Celebrity Cruises, I spent 3 years traveling the world and lecturing on the benefits of acupuncture and herbal remedies. As a San Diego native, I enjoy making positive changes in the lives of my local community. From the hundreds of patients I have treated and from the positive results I have seen, my passion for this medicine continues to grow.
I am fortunate to have such a rewarding profession allowing me to help people and see results. I am a true believer in the power of this medicine and its guiding philosophy of balance and harmony. Based on the holistic principles of disease prevention and mind-body-spirit integration, I believe we all can benefit from incorporating the healing traditions of this centuries old medical system into our lives. Because it addresses the root of your condition and not just your symptoms, it is the perfect complement to conventional treatments.
My mission is to consistently provide high quality acupuncture and to help educate and enrich the San Diego community on the benefits of this wonderful ancient medicine.
